Here they are: 1. Signs & Symptons Click here 2. Welfare benefits for those with cancer: Click hereThe Ross & District Dementia Action Alliance has been set up in South Herefordshire
So far three groups have become members, HDU is one along with Alton Street Surgery, Ross and Tecsmart Training CIC. Our aim is to ensure dementia awareness reaches organisations and businesses in the area and improve the lives of those with dementia. Following our successful dementia event on 21st June we are focusing on the urgent need to make Ross a dementia friendly market town.
There are many ways to improve the community. This could be by encouraging local shops, banks and businesses to understand how they can be more inclusive. There is a need to ensure those with dementia feel they can still be a worthy part of the community, and listened to so their future is what they wish it to be. 2018 meetings booked so far are: on Fridays 23rd February and 23rd March If you wish to find out more please contact the Steering Group Secretary, Sylvia Nicholls: 07817 473813 or email:chair@herefordshiredisabilityunited.org.ukDavid Price Award
David Price was a person who despite his own regressive disability, did as much as possible to champion the needs of those with disabilities in Herefordshire. He was the first person in this county to be awarded a Direct Payment and used his position as chair of a forward looking support group, to ensure equality and access were recognised. Unfortunately David passed away in May 2016, and now with his wife's blessing there is an annual award set up in his name.
